recalling the question. I got it working.
Backed up the current cmm, ftp the backup to my laptop, upload the backup to the new cmm, and restore the data. Had to make some changes to node-names and sig group in cm and change switch link data in the cmm web page. Trial and error, could not find a document on the steps to take.
