Hi,
I met a weird problem on the S8700 standby server .
The system is OK when i installed CM4.0 and patch, but a few hours later, the standby server's status changed to "Not Ready" and i can't access to the server direct(192.11.13.6) even.
The CM alarm show
"1 ARB 14 MIN Y Thu Sep 20 18:36:58 CST 2007 Standby failed to come back ".

I have to pull up the power.

The document show the error :
"Standby failed to come back up" - The standby server in a duplex system
has been down for longer than 15 minutes. The standby server is not able
to alarm on its own behalf. Typical causes are:
? Rolling Linux reboots. This in turn could be caused by rolling
Communication Manager reloads or by a failure to even start
Communication Manager.
? A server was powered down (manually or UPS failure) for more than
15 minutes without first being taken out of service (busied out). The
correct procedure for doing a "stop" on a standby server is to busy it
out first, then stop it.

But I cant solve the problem according the guidance.

anybody meet this problem ?
give some advise to me .
Thx.

I would re-load CM on the standby server. You could have an incoorect Ip address, wrong server name...any little typo and this could cause duplication error. Go to configure server and make sure you have all the settings on both the server exactly the same. Also, make sure the software and patches are both activated. Got to the shell command and type "server" and "swversion" and print the screen shots here.
