I am looking to setup a Windows cluster with 2 servers and a SAN. I see that I need to have at least the Advanced Server or DataCenter software versions. Can anyone tell me if there is some cluster license or additional software that must be purchased from Microsoft or elsewhere to do this?

Microsoft Cluster Service is part of the products that you mentioned. So, no need for other license.
However you have to be carefull on the CALs.
If is active-passive configuration and server mode lic. then you need CALs just for one server.
If is active-active in server mode lic. you need CALs for both.
If yu have per seat, then there is no problem, since the CAL is associated with the device (client).

Take care also with the products involved. SQL server or exchage have their own requirements about licensing on a cluster system.
