Closing a form

I have a form that with a button (AddNewRec) opens another form. The form gets a new query from the linked database, I add a record and return to the original form. I cant seem to close the form properly so that the linked database is updated. Am i approaching this the wrong way? or is there a form.close?

Have you tried Docmd.Close acForm, Me.Name ?

How about creating an event on the DoCmd.Close method, maybe on a command button?
DoCmd.Close "formname"
