Hi, long explanation so apologies for length (but not girth)
We run an eftpos (credit card) server onsite which services 14 tills. I've now got an identical duplicate machine, which I want to use solely as an 'all hell has broken loose' backup machine, so that in the event of the first machine going down, we could simply swap the 2 isdn modems over from one machine to the other, change the ip address, and the tills carry on like nothing has happened.
I'm going to ghost the first pc onto the second to get an identical copy, then change the ip address so there's no conflict. This leaves two nigh on identical machines. Where my problem lies is that every time one of the tills processes a transaction, it assigns a unique ref onto the credit card pc. If I were to only have the previous night's backup, and swapped the machines, I could wind up using the same numbers, which would be a very bad thing.
Does anyone know of any way I can run an almost constant backup routine? It's only text files that are changing, no databases or similar. Has anyone else had to perform a similar process?
Cheers
Mike
