We have a windows 2000 server with a 9.0GB hard disk unfortunately the hard disk is completely full and I tried to clone the hard disk to a 36GB hard disk but it doesnt work nor does the mirroring process work. What is the other way to transfer all the application on to a new bigger hard disk so the Windows 2000 can boot from a bigger hard disk with exchange, office and SQL. I know there is a way but I am not sure what exactly has to be done.

you have many ways to do it:

1. you can back up your old drive including the system state and the registry. then install the windows 2000 server on the new hard disk. and lastly, restore your original windows from the backup.

2. you can also use a third party imagging software like the norton ghost. using this software you can clone your old hard drive to the new bigger one with the opportunity to customize the partition size.
