I am currently working on a client site where we will need to use their DNS to get an element of PeopleSoft 8.4 working. The problem is, that their DNS is set up with one zone, which is just the three letters of the company name (no dots) - "BBB" for illustration here.

The PeopleSoft requirement is for an embedded dot, and I have never come across an internal DNS setup that just has one term as the zone. It is usually something like xxx.com, etc.

Could someone please advise if I should press them that their DNS setup is incorrect, as I suspect it is, or if there is a way round this?

Thanks

That is fine. If they chose not to use a .com extension, a simple name of bbb should work. Is the internal DNS working? Can you resolve names? Try NSLOOKUP and see if it is using their DNS server to resolve....

Thanks,

Thanks, I kind of figured that it is a workable solution, since I set up a dummy server and was able to set up a DNS zone without a .xxx extension. Names are able to be resolved.
