I recently upgraded a 403 to a 412 and started getting a clicking sound when dialing. I would get 1 click when after dialing a 9 (PRI outside line) and then another click when it starts to ring.

Since the only thing new was the 412, I replaced it with another 412.

The click is intermittent so it is hard to troubleshoot, originally I only had 1 user that was complaining about it, and when I checked his phone he had the volume all the way up so the clicking is quite loud. But now I had another user ask about the clicking sound.

I have changed phones, plugged in right at the switch and have heard the clicking (not always).

The click can be heard (not always) when the transfer to voicemail takes place, so I do not believe that it is related to my PRI cards.

Any ideas what to try next?

I have a client with a 406v1 with a digital 30 and an analog 16. They have two pri's and complain that both the customer and the internal user hear clicking on their system.

They are on 3.2(17). Has anyone else heard these complaints?

Usually when we get this the problem is at the service provider. Although you can never be sure.

This clicking is caused by a synchronisation error on BRI or PRI lines.
Set one line as the network and the others as fallback if in use or not suitable if not connected.
