Greetings All,

Was wondering if anyone has experienced the following:

Two IPO R5's, two IPO R6's and one IPO R7 all configured as an SCN. R7 has a combo card being used for the VCM's. R7 is also a new install.

When a call is made from R7 to any other IPO, they hear a click or pop noise immediately following the last digit being dialed and before the first ring is heard. The call progresses as normal beyond the click or pop.

I know that SCN is only supported on systems with the same software release, but the customer is questioning whether the issue may be with the combo card that is installed in the R7. I also have heard the combo cards can be a bit flaky. Also, the customer does not experience issue when calling from or to the other IPO's. Only calling from the IPO R7.

Thanks for any input or ideas.

Get the SCN on supported levels and see what happens then.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I have had issues with the Combo card but so far only with the Analog trunks never had issues with the extensions, do you get the pop sound when you dial ext to ext on the R7 system?
I would start by replacing the combo card to see if that fixes the problem, I also second tlpeter suggestion.

Is direct media path turned on or off on the SCN trunks?

Then turn it off and see what happens.

A copy and paste from KB.so from r6-R7 you "should" be fine what is monitor telling you?

SCN is supported between IP Office systems with the same major software level or one level of difference in major software level. For example between 4.2 and 4.1 (same major level) and between 5.0 and 4.2 (one major level of difference).

This option is intended mainly to allow the phased upgrading of sites within a Small Community Network. It is still recommended that all systems within a network are upgraded to the same level where possible. Within a SCN using differing levels of software, network features will be based on the lowest level of software within the network.

From IP Office Release 2.1(35) and higher, Multi-Site Networking is supported between IP Office systems with differing software levels but network features will be based on the lowest level of software within the network. This option is intended to allow the phased upgrading of sites within a Multi-Site network and it is still recommended that all systems within a network are upgraded to the same level where possible.

Recall that the combo cards have a pcn for noise. May want to check that out.
