i use the cli for bab 9.01 quite a lot now, and i love it, but one thing that is bugging me is when you try and eject a media remotely sometimes it complains of no media! yet if you issue a cmd to view the media in the drive it happily shows it. A restart of the tape engine rectifies the problem but???

has anyone else had problems with the cli?

command line interface

you can use the commands such as ca_qmgr to view and add jobs and ca_devmgr to eject/format/scan tapes etc.

Are the commands being entered on the server itself or a remote system?

it's on a remote machine. I basically run the command on one server which is issuing the commands to a remote bab svr.

eg.

to eject a tape i type ca_devmgr -cahost <svrname> -eject 3 6 (adapter & drive no.)

sometimes it asks me to create equivalence but not always... is there a timeout for the equiv? the server i use is not logged off for weeks on end so the session/user has not changed.

side issue i spose!
