clearing combobox without clearing contents 1

how do you clear a combobox after saving an entry but not delete the contents of the box? i just want to reset it after a user saves an entry.
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
Combobox1.Text = ""

or

Combobox1.ListIndex = -1

depending on how it set up.
