A short while ago, my Exchange server crashed, along with Active Directory. It was the only AD server at the time. i was able to recover the server through the recovery console, and get AD started. My backups contained only Brick level backups (a whole other story involving backup exec issues). Due to the crash, my information stores have become corrupt, and will not start. I have gone through using isinteg recovery, rebuild etc. But due to the state of the info stores being corrupt, they are useless. I installed a second Exchange server to get users up and running, creating new mailboxes for all of them. I have also been able to restore their mailboxes from backup.
So, here finally is my problem, my public folders are still associated with the first Exchange server, and I am unable go through the steps to point them to the new Exchange server. All of the tech notes I have found requires that the first public store be mounted, and to replicate the folders to the new server.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Let me know if more info is needed.

I can't help you with the Public Folders part but I'm curious as to what happened with your Veritas backup? We use 8.6 here.

the backup server becan to hiccup on the Acaptec 29160 SCSI card that the tape drive was attached to. the tape drive was not recognized. It had been running fine for about 6 months this way. I ende3d up purchasing an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card (6 year old card, $85, works great if you need a 68 pin external connector) Also, we have Backup Exec 8.6, which was originally purchased as 8.0, with 8.0 agents. So the licensing was good for 8.6, but the Exchange agent only had the functionality to backup brick level, no the information stores. (Only took three support calls and two calls to my Veritas sales rep for them to figure out that my licensing would NOT work on Exchange 2000. They continually said everything should work, even though the licenses were originally from 8.0. THAT WAS NOT TRUE. Finally I recieved my free upgrade to Backup Exec 9.0, with upgraded licenses, which I used on my 8.6 install. Now I can backup my Information Stores. Still can't start the old ones though.

any ideas???
