I would like to remove everything on my daugthers C drive (she has been having all sorts of problems) and start all over. She is currently running Windows XP Home addtion. What would be the correct way to do this after I back up everything on CD's. How do I clean up the C drive correctly.

Thank You for any Help

Well if you don't need to keep anything beside the files that you have backed up I would recommend a clean install.

Boot up your pc with your XP cd and format the drive when the option comes up with ntfs file system. This will clear the drive from everything previously installed.

After your windows xp has installed you will need to install software that she need. First program to install should be antivirus program and update the machine with all updates I recommend installing SP2 as this will get the machine upto date.

If you need more info on how to re-install it might be worth lookin at this url
