Hi, i`m having a problem doing a clean install of windows ME on an old computer.

I kept getting INVALID SYSTEM DISK on boot, but after a format of C the computer just says that the hard drives(2) are installed and then the floppy is installed.
I have tried putting in a full version windows 98 disk then a ME disk but nothing happens.

Please help as i am totally stuck.

Ok. Type a: then hit enter. then type FDISK and hit enter. Hit Y for enable large disk support. Then do Option #4 and tell me what it says. James Collins

It says:-

Current fixed disk drive: 1

No partitions defined

Press ESC to continue

Hit esc. then hit option #1 and then enter through it. Once that is done you will have to reboot. Looks like no Partitions was what was causing the entire problem. Need help just ask. James Collins

Have followed your instructions but return to same command prompt.

At the command prompt type cd ed: then hit enter. then type cd win98 and hit enter again. then type format c: hit enter. then follow the prompts. Now we need to format the drive. James Collins

When i type win98 it says invalid directory.
I have typed format and it is now formatting the drive.

Once the format is complete, type E:\setup or A:\setup if you're using a boot disk. Once windows starts loading, you should be okay. James Collins
