Looking for a little clarification on these cards. We've had an issue where clid would sometimes be displayed and sometimes not, on our analog devices. During busy analog line usage times, the clid delivery was really hit or miss. During off peak analog device usage times, clid would be passed more frequent. Found that we have 2 Class Modem cards, but only 1 was configured, with 16 ports. I have enough ISM's to max out both cards, and have. Question is are these cards a front line device before the ALC, or do they work in tandem? Meaning does this card pass the clid no matter what, or does it scrub the cls of the analog device first before doing anything with caller id?

Forgot to add. Reason why I'm asking is, I'm trying to determain of changing the cls on devices that don't need clid, will free up resources on this card.

I don't know the specific answer about CLS, but you might look at your Controller Cards (looking for the newest one you have). See if moving the Class/Analog card to a "newer" controller improves performance.

Long ago, when TDD came out, there was an issue with some controller cards not being fast enough...this was of course on digital TNs, but it may apply to analog as well.

CLS = CNAA on a 500 set the Modem Card TN showed as Busy.

CLS = CNAD on a 500 set the Modem Card TN showed as IDLE.

So it looks like the CLS does have an effect.

Thanks gh and hawks. I now have both of my cards fully configured and as of right now, have more than enough resources. Thanks again

Yes it is set on each set as needed in the CLS.

Remember that the CLID is delivered inband between the first and second ring so if they pick up before the second ring then they might not get the CLID.
