Hi, I have a weird one here.

I have a user here, who was using the Citrix web client version 8 to connect to a "Citrix NFuse Classic Login" page, to connect to published applications.

This is on a Windows XP Pro box running SP1 and IE6

The published applications connect and run fine, but the "citrix program neighbourhood connection center" icon will not load on the user’s taskbar.

I have tried removing the citrix install and then installing it again, I have also tried uninstalling and installing the latest client (version 9) but these paths did not fix the issue.

It is not a great issue, but annoying, as the citrix program neighbourhood connection center icon gives access to certain functionality which would be of great benefit (i.e. being able to easily see what citrix server he is connected to etc.)

If I manually run the app ("C:\Program Files\Citrix\ICA Client\wfcrun32.exe") the application loads, but no citrix connections are shown at all, no matter if I manually run it before or after the log-on to NFuse.

Bit stuck here... :(

Good morning Gary, good to see you.

Very odd. Lets try a couple of things.

1st can you create a custom ICA connection straight to the farm using Program Neighbourhood and if so does that load the connection manager. If this works then it must be an NFuse issue. Any chance of upgrading to Web Interface ?(Much nicer, and no cost except time)

2nd go and have a look at regmon and filemon from there are other tools you will like there too[smile]. If you run them on the client it may tell you (after some looking) if there is a permissions issue on the client.

Let me know how you get on. If necessary get ML to give you my e-mail and we can discuss further.

Cary,

I have had similar issues with XP Pro & Windows 2000. The only fix i ever found was to install and early version client (7.x) and then run the upgrade.

For some strange reason this solved the problem on the machines i was having a problem with.

I bit bizarre i know but it might be worth a try if no other better suggestions arrive.

The particular user has said he is not bothered about it, and as he kinda knows what he is doing, I am inclined to let it be.

really, how important is it to have access to this, it gives a few extra options, but none he needs that often.

but thanks for the advice guys, really )

off to get my iron filings...

Its really only useful if YOU dont have the CMC handy. You can tell which apps they have open and which server they are on.

Also they can terminate when it all goes pear shaped etc.

I very seldom need to use, look at it.
