Hi all,

is it possible to have Citrix XP FR2 - Farm on an oracledatabase 8.1.6.
In fact is at the installation anything approval.

Regards
JT

Supported Databases are MS Access use this for small farms up to about 3 servers

Anything above that use either ORACLE or SQL which ever flavour you prefer/have.

I cannot say I have put it on an Oracle Database but I have put it on SQL many times and never really had any problems.

My advice would be to put it on a SQL/ORACLE every time if you can.

Cheers
Scott

I've connected up dozens of Oracle Databases - 8.1.6 is the most "fun", and 9i is easiest - but they all work.

It's true, however, that SQL Server is much simpler - and you can use MSDE with FR3. I've even heard of people connecting to MySQL on Linux, but not tried it.

Any issues just post here.

We use Oracle Database for our Citrix farms each farm has around 60+ servers and everything runs fine.

We are using Oracle 9i now but we used to use 8.1.6 and had no probs with either. If you aren't an Oracle expert I would recomend installing the whole oracle client on your servers as it's not so clear what component holds the correct Oracle ODBC connector that citrixMF needs.

Hope this helps.

In addition, ensure that you use at least the 8.1.7 client, no matter which database you use - the 8.0.6 is a nightmare - I've been told it isn't supported.

Oddly enough, I was asked to set up a connection to an Oracle 7.3.4 database yesterday. Using the 8.1.7 client it was actually fairly straightforward.

Hope this is helpful.
