I have a computer with Windows 2000 Professional; who connects and the logon is authenticated to the Citrix server. However, when that person tries to launch an application - the file download begins and an error messages occurs - Access to the specified device, path, or file is denied. It appears it is trying to download to c:\documents and settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

Any ideas??? I've checked privileges on the folders and they are fine...

Thank you.

A few items to try are:

1) Empty your cache in IE, close the browser and try again.

2) Verify you do not have "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk" selected. (This is located in IE/Tools/Internet options/Advanced/scroll to bottom <security> section. Unselect "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk."

3) Do a search for wfica.ocx and wfcrun32.exe on your box? Right click select properties and check the version. You should have the latest. If multiple versions, remove all instances of clients and reinstall.

4) Right click the application, do a "Save Target As", If you save a "launch.ica", save it to the desktop and try to launch from there. If you save a launch.asp, return to app page and run again, check the error message in the message center. (If no message is return, right click and do open in new window, you should be returned an error message.)

5) If using a Windows 9x, ME or XP, type msconfig at Start/Run, General tab,
choose selective start option, unselect load startup items, click apply. Reboot system.

Checked that first KCDave03; thanks for the tip.

XSForCitrix - I've done 1 through 4; these are ok; waiting to do 5; laptop is remote. MSConfig isn't present on XP; however; was going to copy it over from '98 and try the selective startup...

Any other ideas while I have the laptop in my possession - which will be on Monday???

you might also look at the ICA connection config (permissions) and the published app security group setting.

I had this problem as well. We had users connecting to a desktop application and were going to our Web Interface page to launch other published applications. Whenever they clicked on it it would try to launch but give the access denied message.
Here is the fix for it:
Go to the Citrix program folders (right click start menu and choose open all users)
Go to the subfolder named MetaframeXP under the "Citrix" program folder and give "Everyone" read, execute and list permissions to that and all the subfolders.
This will take care of the problem.
Thanks.

I need to get the laptop back again to try these things; user is out of the office; but I gave you all a star as all the possible solutions were great. I'll post once I'm able to try them out. Thank you all!!!!
