Hey everyone,

Right now I'm working on my CCNA, and I have the oppurtunity two get 2 CiscoPro 2514 IOS 12.x.x with all accessories for $900. Or get 2 Cisco 2514 IOS 12.x.x with all accessories for $1000. I want to setup one of them as a router for my cable modem, but other than that they are going to be used for training for CCNA/CCNP. What do you all recommend? And what is the differnece between the CiscoPro and Cisco.....
Thanks,

burke

Does anyone know anything about this????????? It is urgent, and I don't want to miss the oppurtunity!!!!! PLEASE POST SOMETHING!!!! Thanks,

burke

Ciscopro is the better deal. The study abilities and resale value should be enough of a selling point. The wan interfaces and the Protocol support is a big Plus. Your getting an excellent deal with the CisocPro version. Route once; switch many

I wouldn't touch the CiscoPro's, you're limited on software, and plus they don't have the value that the real Cisco's do..

Thanks,

But what is the real difference between the black Cisco and the CiscoPro? Is it in processor power/PPS/earlier hardware versions? I'm just wondering because I can never find anything on them. If someone could let me know I'd appreciate it. Thanks,

burke

The CiscoPro had less memory and a special IOS with limited capabilities. CiscoPro sales has been stopped a long time ago, as far as I remember there has never been a CiscoPro IOS v12.x. So these boxes have probably been upgraded to a 'normal' IOS.
If possible, compare the IOS image and amount of Flash/DRAM installed.
Personally, I would go for the black, because it's only a $100 difference.
