Hello,

I have a Cisco 827 router. For some reason I can't seem to get into the router. The prompt I am getting is as followed.

Cisco827>

I am not able to use the "en" because for some reason the password is not working anymore. Can someone please help.

It looks like the enable password or secret has been changed. You can do a password recovery on this router easily by reloading it with a PC attached to the console, hit <break> as it boots to get into rommon, change the config register to 0x2142 (confreg 0x2142) and type 'reset'. The router will reload but ignore the stored configuration, type no or <ctrl> C to ignore the initial setup commands, get into enable mode and then copy the startup config to running config. You can then change the password etc (since you are in enable mode).

I tried what you stated in the last email it didn't work I don't understand it just starts loading the image. Please help

You must hit <CTRL> Break as it starts to boot. Depending on your OS and Terminal Application it can be different key combinations - with Hyperterminal Private Edition 6.3 I hit <CTRL> and the 'Pause/Break' key

I seem to remember having some problems with the standard Hyperterminal that ships with Windows - download the free Private Edition 6.3 upgrade from Hilgraeve (
