Does anyone know how to save the configuration so when the power goes out on the switch we wouldn't have set everything back up again; for example the port settings. I know how to get to enable mode and that's is it. Can some show me what to type in next... is it "write", cisco tech notes got too much information.

-Thanks!

Write memory or copy running-config startup-config will save it .

I would recommend you also tftp the config to your pc or copy the config to a text file and save it.

CCNA, CCNP..partly ;)

Hello there, just one more tip, if you know the first part of the command just type in a "?" and you will get few options. If still not sure which one to use paste them in google, I am sure that the information will be out there to get you out of trouble... Cheers.

I can recommend O'Reilly's Cisco Cookbook; never leave home without it!

Thanks vipergg! I did do Write Memory, your posted confirmed what I've done is correct. I saw "running-config startup-config" in command reference for our switch but was not sure that would do it thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks everyone, and have a great week!
