Cisco VPN 4.0 installation problems on Win XP

I am trying to install Cisco VPN Client on a Dell Latitude D400 Laptop with Windows XP. Problem arises when the installation program tries to install the Network Deterministic Enhancer. A window appears saying Add Plugin Failed and then it flags up Error 1722 stating the installer did not finish installing a program. It then proceeds to reverse the installation (by this I mean the progress bar reverses) and cuts to desktop. I've looked at the release notes for Cisco VPN Client and they said they are looking into this. Microsoft also state that they are aware of the problem (with 3.5 and 3.6 versions)but don't offer a solution. Any solution folks?

I had the same problem. Did a manual install per Cisco documentation

and now I was able to install it.
