CISCO SWITCH 2900 XL

I am using a 2900 catalyst in one of our dept and it is vlan
9(1stfloor) the connection to that is comming from the core switch
5500 using fibre patch and it is in 2nd floor but the performance of the switch 2900 with in the dept even very slow. Can anybody help me to make it high.

You have to give more information to get meaningful answers.

If the uplink is FastEthernet, there is most likely a duplex mismatch between the switches. Make sure both sides are set to full duplex.
