This is a two part question. If I span port 6/1 to port 6/2 what acutally happens? does the same traffic goes to the second port 6/2? If a user on port 6/1 goes to will a second computer on port 6/2 go to yahoo.com also? my second question is we have a switch with a mfsc2 card; This switch funtion as a router also. Is it the MFSC card that allows it to be a router also? Whats the function of a MFSC card anyway?

Spanning just mirrors the traffic from 1 port to another , it is used for network analyzers whenever you want to troubleshoot a problem. The MSFC card is indeed the router daughterboard in a 6509 switch and does all the routing .
