Hi

Im new to Cisco, I have been playing with a Cisco 1721 Router and the time has come to try and figure out how to upload a saved config file

I have trawled google and this site but haven't come up with anything that is geared towards a newbie to properly understand the concept!

The idea is I can upload this config file and then see what it comprises of (The config was saved from another 1721 by a work colleague that left the company!)

I am using hyperterminal to connect to my router and I have a copy of Solarwinds TFTP

I wondered what i have to do to upload this configuration onto my Cisco Router?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Jamie

Hi,

log in to the router,
go to Enable mode

then type "copy tftp run" and follow the prompts to supply the necessary info.

Alternatively, cut and paste the config into Hyperterminal,(right click)
making sure to do it a few lines at a time and going into config mode beforehand.

try that, if you balls it up, no worries just reset. when you are happy that it's all there type "copy run start"
which will save the running configuration to startup config.

They are complex things routers. Get a big book. :)

Also.. You might want to do a copy run tftp to get the file to your tftp server also.

:)

Cheers

Thanks for the replies to the question, with your help I managed to get a config loaded ;-)
