You would think that with the wealth of information on Cisco's web site, it would be easy to find the latest IOS versions available. Unfortunately, after an hour or so of running around in circles - I have only came up a few guesses.

The biggest problem is probably because I only have a guest CCO account. This account gives me access to pretty much nothing. If there is a feature on Cisco's site that allows a guest CCO user to see what the latest IOS versions are out, what versions are needed, and how to download the images - I havent seen it. Can someone please tell me where on Cisco.com I have to go to download an IOS image under a guest account, or what I need to do to get the CCO privledges most other people seem to have?

P.S. I am looking for just the latest standard 1721 image, nothing fancy. The router has 16MB flash and 32MB DRAM

Appreciated.

AFAIK IOS images are only downloadable if you have a CCO account.

You may be able to get one via TAC, otherwise a deep (unofficial search) will yeild some, which are of course illegal and unsupported by Cisco.

Thanks guys. Just out of curiosity, what has to be done to get an authorized CCO account? I do have one, but I guess it is only as a "guest". From what I understand, you have to be either a reseller or CCIE?

This must have been a new policy of Cisco, because not too long ago I downloaded a flash image from Cisco's web site for a Catalyst switch. Dont remember how, unfortunately.

Thanks for the IOS offer, but Ill try my service provider first. They usually email me the critical upgrades....

IOS for switches seems to be less restricted than IOS for routers.

A service contract will get you access (SmartNet) if that is registered to your CCO account.

Go to whoever you obtained the equipment from, its their job technically.

ahhhh digging for an IOS from the Cisco web-page is like looking for Bin Laddin in Afganistan!!!

The Cisco page is pretty in depth and not very userfriendly when looking for the "RIGHT" IOS.

As many have already said you do need either a service contract or some other access to gain access to this feature.

I would recommend calling Cisco TAC to find out your options. If you have a service agreement, they may be able to help you over the phone to get what you need. Often times I have found that some people are willing to "assist" and ummmm how do I say it, "lend" you some extra help!
not all will, but it worth a shot!

Well, You can always try to let a level 1 or level 2 Smartnet Subscription from e-bay for under $100.00

Which then gives you access to certain IOS's for 1 year or so...

Just a thought.

Yes Fatguy, I know you said it already -> However I think this is a bit more in the way of directing one towards the light...
