I am trying to assist a friend of mine with his network. The configuration is as follows....

T1 into a Cisco 1600 series router... From here into a 4 port Linksys router that is used as the DHCP....From here using the uplink port into a series of 3 hubs, that connect to a patch panel.

After setting up the linksys I get a valid IP when connected directly into the Linksys. As soon as I plug into the hub, all connectivity is lost. I am plugging in from the uplink port on the Linksys to the uplink on the hub...any help is appreciated.

Does the uplink port on the hub have a little hole next to it labeled as mdi/mdix. If there is use something and switch it. If not look at the cable you are using...if it is a straight through you might try a crossover cable.

There is nothing marked mdi/mdix....I was refraining from the cross over because the 2 routers are obviously talking to eachother, the hub seems to be the problem, but was all working fine with the previous T1

Try taking the cable out of the uplink port of the linksys and plug it into one of the other ports.
