Hi all,

I was asked recently if Cisco CM can integrate with the current Avaya system we have in place. Also asked type of trunk is typically used to interconnect the two. I’m guessing that the you can integrate both systems and SIP would be the preferred trunk type???? My company is planning on rolling this out so branch offices can go VoIP rather that the TDM setup that is currently in place. We currently have s8700 x 2 and G650i x 4, CM 3. Would we require additional hardware if we did go down this route????

Thx
Mc

why would you use Cisco ? Remote gateways can be g250,250 or 700 and gives you more fuctions. Not sure about SIP but you can use H323 trunks. However, this will mean you have to manage mutliple swtiches. With the Avaya gateways, you manage everything on the main site.

I agree...I am in the process of setting up a remote call center with the capability of handling 100 agents. I have 2 other offices that are remote to us, and we are deploying a MultiTech/Avaya gateway in one of them (5 people), and a g700 in the other one(about 20 people). You can get a g700 for the cost of a Cisco system.

yep and yep, I know this can all be done through the Avaya, at less cost and less hassle, and I’m all for it believe me, but the question was asked!!! The powers that be are fully aware that this is part and parcel (bar some additional hardware) of the current set-up. So would I need additional Avaya hardware to integrate the Cisco CM.
