HI
We have had alot of trouble recently with lost connections we get socket error connections especially when we are using applications that talk to our db2 server (not a db2 proiblem as it worked fine on t/r), also if we move say for instance a laptop to another wall port the laptop cannot connect to the network, if we reset all the switches the problem goes away for a little while any ideas????

Are there any errors on the switch ports? "show interface fastethernet0/(portnumer)

Need more information! What type of switch is it? Is portfast on? Speed/Duplex setting? Interface errors?Trunk or uplink to core?

Thanks,
Nicole

We have a blend of different cisco switches mainly catalyst 3524

There are no errors on the ports

Ok had a massive network failure at the weekend, noneof the switches could ping each other. Powered down all switches then brought them back up, was then getting fluctuauting pings first two packets wouold return second 2 would fail. Is not a cabling issue as we use fibre.

Restarted all switches again, everything working ok. We have never updated the firmware on the command switch is this something we should have done???

Can you diagram your design please (how many switches, how they connect, and their model numbers)?
