Hi,
I'm still fairly new to the phone world but I've been tasked with getting a cisco ata 188 that has been flashed with the latest revision of H.323 from cisco to an s8700 using H.323. I have the clan ip address and have setup an ext as a 4602. Can anyone assist me in the setup of the s8700 or the ATA? I'm not sure if this is easy or not and I'd be willing to just read some documention to teach myself but I've tried google and have gotten little information other than people have connected a cisco ata to an avaya system successfully. Thanks!

grugind,

you should use station type h.323 not 4602. all 46xx series ip phones use proprietary extensions to the h.323 protocol and cisco is guaranteed not to understand these extensions.

ok I used H.323 as an extension. Do you know if the Clan ip address would be used as the gatekeeper or gateway address?

thanks again

grugind,

c-lan ip address you should use as a gatekeeper's address. gateway address is assigned dynamically on demand and is choosed among medpro boards based on some parameters including network region, available codecs, resources and so on.

thanks!...I'm making progress...went from out-of-service to disconnected

Thanks Dwalin! Setting it up as h.323 was the key. Once I added the correct port I was able to make a call over the ata.

grugind,

please, can you post setting of Cisco ATA?

Thanks in advance.
