Hello All,

I have some gerneral questions about cisco routers and some not so general questions about the 871 router. As far as I can tell the 871 is a new model that cisco has put out there and I cannot seem to find any configuration information on it anywhere. Maybe I am not looking in the right places, anyone got any links? Also, the CLI commands for a series of Cisco routers, like 1800 series or 800 seriers, are the CLI commands the same? can I use the same command on like a 831 and a 871? What I am having problems with at the moment is the VPN connection between an 1801 and a 871. The vpn works but the SMTP information is not being passed over the VPN, any suggestions? Thanks

el,

looks like the 871 runs IOS - command line 'should' be the same(though there may be some features missing - it is a soho-class router).

as far as smtp info - i can only think that there might be some firewall-type stuff going on, like, the pix 'fixup' commands? I mean, it would take something to actually modify the packet contents; the smtp traffic is getting there, right? It's just that the commands are being screwed up or something?
