I'm not sure what happened here but I connected our new Cisco 801 Router to our office connect hub (linking about 8 win2k clients to a win2k server) and installed the Fast Step software on the server, went to setup and on "discovering the router" phase it kicked everyone off the network and hung the server. On reboot all I can see now is the serever and the rest of the network has gone. I can't ping the workstations and the workstations can't ping the server anymore. The network settings don't look any different to how they were. And to top it all our ecrix backup is refusing to play ball with a system state restore.

What is the Fast Step likely to have changed or corrupted that I can check out? I'm about to go onto our backup server to compare settings and do a switchover if I don't find a solution in the next couple of hours! Any help woul;d be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

OK, it's looking like it changed the Subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.0.0.0 in the TVP/IP setting of the network adapter on the server. Have changed it back and now I can log on now. It wouldn't have done anything else??

Thanks

Dan
