Hi Everybody, Actually I teach the ACRC course and i'm practise with a Cisco 700 series, suddenly i pinging from several workstations but not from other, and viceversa, i think that all is ok, but i don't know where the problem is.
any idea.......
My first thought is of subnet masks. I assume all stations
are on the same network when you say some get a ping reply
and some dont. Here are my thoughts in order...

1) subnet mask inconsistancies on same network
2) leftover extended access list from previous lab
3) client PC hardware issues. Can the PCs that can
not ping the router ping anything else? maybe a
layer 1 or 2 issue with the class laptop?

I dought anything is wrong with the router since you do have
some ping success.

Can you get a successfull ping from one while not getting a
successfull ping from a problem pc (at the same time?)

Leroy
I have had the same issues with this Cisco "non-IOS" router. When I have have problems is when I change a setting. It seems after changing the IP address or ISDN intreface you must reset the router. First reset the default users
<A HREF="
reboot the device. I often had to remove routes and put them back in again. Also my client needed to upgrade the router to the most recent firmware.

I love Cisco, but I would suggest investing in an 800 series device or higher if I were you.
The problem with this is that you don't have enough user licensing in this router. You need to load the remote office version that allows 1500 users to be entered in the arp table. The software code with a B.US in it has 4 licenses thus will only accept the first for MAC's that hit the arp table. For a quick test, show the arp table and see if it has less than 5 addresses in it. Then reboot the router and ping it with 6 machines. I bet only 4 will ping it. The rest will not ping it.
You need the remote office version with the R.US software version.
