Hi, I have an issue which I logged out to our service provider ( BeeTea ) who say there is nothing wrong. However I thought I would get your opinion because Im still not happy.

We have Two identical routers Hardware wise ( 7206 ) and also the configs are almost identicle ( one MPLS Serial Interface and one Fast Ethernet Interface ). when Traffic traverses one router it is destined for the other site. So you could say they have equal traffic. However the CPU usage is totally different + interface drops / cache hits.

Suspect router CPU
CPU utilization for five seconds: 58%/40%; one minute: 66%; five minutes: 66%
Good Router CPU
CPU utilization for five seconds: 9%/9%; one minute: 13%; five minutes: 14%

* All counters were cleared on Friday
Also, the interface statistics are as follows
Suspect Router Serial Interface
Input queue: 10/75/3755/479457 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 1
Suspect Router Fast Ethernet
Input queue: 5/75/281006/23785550 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops
: 2

The Good twin router is clear...
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 2449
Queueing strategy: fifo

Should I be worried about any of the above symptoms?
as we do get reports of slowdowns.

Are you doing load-ballancing between the two routers? If so, one of them might be using extra processing power to keep the load ballanced.

Hi,

No, these Routers are single routers on either side of an MPLS circuit, internally their next hop is a HSRP address, so no load balancing is going on, and the next hop out of the serial interface is a single router in the BeeTea cloud.

Thanks, Lee
