I bought a refurbished 3750 and my interfaces all start with a 4 instead of a 1. I see a line in the config - "switch 4 provision ws-c3750-24p" I tried to delete this line but I get the error "%IDBs can not be removed when switch is active". I have never come accross this. What is an IDB and how can I get rid of it so that my interfaces start with a 1 instead of a 4? Please see a partial config below.

Thanks

Either erase the config... or

switch re 4 1

(Thats either switch rename or renumber, i forget)

I had blown away the config and that did not do it. I realized that this switch was thinking it was part of a stack. #4 in a stack and that was why it was assigning its intfaces starting with a 4. Once I made the change you suggested and rebooted I had two sets of interfaces defined one starting with a 1 and also another starting with a 4. I was able to remove the line "switch 4 provision ws-c3750-24p" now and the switch is as I desire it.

Thanks.

I have the exact same situation. Added 1 but now I cannot remove 4.

I now have double the interfaces both 1 and 4.

What did you do to get rid of 4?

SW10#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
PWSW10(config)#no switch 4 provision ws-c3750-24p
%IDBs can not be removed when switch is active

Never mind I got it.

Had to do "switch 4 renumber 1" first.

Then I coould remove it.

Ah cool so what I said did work, cool.
