I am having touble uploading the image to the switch. I am able to boot into rommom. when i do a "dir bootflash:" it shows that the image in flash has a bad checksum. ROMMON does not give me the option to delete, tftp, or copy.

I am able to used xmodem, the image is downloaded but when it tries to comeup, it kraps out sending me back into the ROMMON.

I am thinking it has to do something with the confreg, but i don't see an option for it to boot/run the image in RAM.

HELP anyone,

ARQ.

Sounds like you have a duff IOS image on your PC?

Check the file size of the image on your PC against the file on cisco.com.

I have on 2 occasions had a corrupted download, which has caused me all sorts of problems.

thanks for the feedback routerman,

The image sizes are the same. I am able to download the image using xmodem. The image goes on and begins initialization and takes me to the
system configuration dialog

after bypassing the initial configuration, no to the first question, I get the following

boot of cat2948g.bin using boot helper mkseg1 a0010040
failed
error returned, No usable interfaces
loadprog, error on file open
boot, cannot load cat2948g.bin
rommon 4

HELP,

ARQ.

Arq, can you capture the actual output to a text file and post it up, the error codes may indicate the problem.

If your getting as far as the system configuration dialogue then sounds like the unit has loaded ok. But if I understand correctly it then falls over when you attempt to enter configuration mode.

I'm wondering if the image is loading via xmodem into RAM, not to the flash file system.

Frome the rommon prompt can you see the image in flash? I'm not 100% sure of the command sequence on this switch. You should be able to use the `dev' command from rommon to see what file system devices are available, then `dir device-name:' to see if the image is in the flash memory.

I have a 2948g. It has/had a bootrom version 4.4(1). Long story short, my little brother did a promrestore, now I can't even get a status light on. Is there any way to fix this? What happened when the promrestore command was issued?
