I have 2 Windows servers - a web server and a mail server - on the same subnet. The web server has a form that uses a perl script to send a mail message to our mail server. The problem is that from time to time the network connection between the two is lost. I cannot ping between the two but I can ping other boxes but not between these two. Incoming and outgoing mail still function fine and the website is still up and running.

These are both in a DMZ from a PIX firewall. Any help would be grateful!

Thanks!

If you can find no physical reason for this problem it's possible that you have a hardware problem , anything showing in the logs ? Any interface errors on the ports . Or you could be running into a known problem with these . Go to
and see if your switch falls in the this serial number range .
