Looking at putting a 2821 to handle multiple VoIP lines ( 30 actually ). Internet access is through a Vsat mobile unit and I have plenty of band width available. Do you know if my approach is correct?
Vendors ( non cisco educated ) are telling me the H323 is spendy to program for cisco, I am familiar enough with cisco to be dangerous. I have Sun Micro. system background since 1996. I think I am getting the BS on the programming because they are behind a learning curve.
I appreciate any clarity on this matter.

Can you elaborate on what you're actually trying to accomplish? Are you saying that you need to support 30 IP phones on a single 2821 router, presumably running CallManager Express, and your network access is via satellite? You mention that Internet access is via the vsat module, but you don't specifically state that all of your voice communications will use the Internet. Do you have any other network access that we need to consider?

Your Sun expertise tells me you probably have customers or have dealt with customers that use Veritas for disk management...if you have THAT figured out, Cisco should be a piece of cake! lol

Basically the answer is yes The 2821 specs state it can go up to 42 phones, but my customer only needs 30. The phones are attached to a mobile command unit. Voice, no video as of yet. The band width is not a problem, each line will only take 16 kpbs which includes the header file. No other access is available in the remote areas we go.
I have no experience with the Callmanagers systems, thank God. The sun ray appliance system is tough enough at this point and we use them for GIS and IC stations. In fact the phone system wont even hit a server, they will connect into the router as do the two current VoIP phones we have now. They use normal everday phones. I agree, the programing in the cisco router is not beyond my abilities, that is why I am having a problem with what vendors are trying tell me.

I push 60 lines through our 2821 but it isnt vsat.

u be the dude then. So is your 60 lines use a satellite service or wire? If celestial what vendor are you using, and at what kbps is each line using. And lastly are you happy with it?
Thanks for your reply
