Hello....

I have copied a new IOS into the flash of my 2811 router. At this point would I just delete the old file and reload? Why is the old file called "falsh"? It was this way from the factory.

I would imagine that someone just made a typo when they loaded the image onto the router. You'd be surprised at how many 2500s we used to have that had an image name of "y". ;-)

When doing a copy tftp flash, they would accidentally enter "y" for "yes" when prompted for the image name, thinking that they were acknowledging that they wanted to continue. I would guess that something similar happened here except that an additional typo was involved.

So...just delete the first flash file and then it should just use the newer IOS?

Yep. If you don't specify otherwise, it will boot with the first image it finds in flash.
