Hello,
I have a cisco catalyst 2650 router, I think that the flash config has become corrupt in some way, I also need to connect the router to a machine, I have a cable with what looks like a serial connection at one end and a rj45 connector on the other. Can anyone example in simple steps how I would go about getting this router back on-line and working again?

I have no real experience of configuring Cisco kit, so any simple advise would be very useful. Just been asked to fix it!
Thanks

the cable you have is probably blue and its a console cable..
you need to connect it to your serial interface of your PC..
usually com1 if you use the first serial port

you can then plug the rj45 end into the console port of the router...

then open up your favorite terminal software (hyperterm is installed standard on windows machines)

and create a new connection using your com1 with 9600 baud data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control none

power on the router and you should see it start to boot
you can then record and post the error to get some more help as to what the problem is with the router.

if com1 doesn't work then you might need to try com2 etc.. depends on your pcs configuration.
