Hi all, Due to not having access to cable or ADSL I am using dual channel ISDN for a 128Kb connection to the internet. The modem I use for this is an NT1+ and has either serial(DB9) or USB connection. My problem is that I would like to connect it to the router directly and let the router do the dialing ect instead of having a PC connected to the only ethernet port as a gateway. My router has 8 low speed synch/asynch ports, I actually have 2 2610's connected via one of the serial ports to give me 2 ethernet ports, one of which is taken up with the dial up PC running the ISDN modem only.I assume I could easily connect the modem from its serial port to one of the router serial ports "BUT" when connected by its serial port the modem will only do 112.5Kb. To get the full 128Kb it must be connect via its USB port.

My question is this "Is there a converter or something that can convert usb to standard serial? I could then plug into the serial port on the router and into the usb port of the modem"

I am actually considering using ip secondary and a switch to connect my 2 internal lans, not good really. Wishing the aux port went to 128K.

Thanks

i would use a hub on the router and config the router to do the dialing, haven't seen a usb port on a 2600 (yet) from my serial days, your not going to get the thru-put you want on a serial
