Guys,

I need your help on this one. I just purchased a Cisco 2501 router from a store. The guy tested it and boot up and make sure everything is fine. I just got home with the router. Connected the console cable to the laptop and router console port. Bootup, see all the bootstrap and ios info. When if ask "would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? yes/no" I can't type anything at all. I click on other parts on the MS windows my keyboard works, but when I am back in the console window, no of the keys works? At the shop, the guy was using it and everything works. I connected the console cable to another router and it works too. Can anyone help?

Check your hyperterm settings

Bits per sec : 9600
Data bits : 8
Parity : none
Stop bits : 1
Flow control : none
Without these settings, the router may display, but does not accept any keystrokes, making it appear as if it is hung, or has crashed. With the correct settings, you can use Hyper Terminal to configure and monitor the router

Yup, thats it. hmm...strange, that it works on the other router and only this one is giving problems.

Thanks for your help.
