Hi:
I just inherited the IT position; and I have encountered some issues with the IP address on the switches

The IP configuration on each one of the 20+ switches we have does not match the current gateways domain names and dns server address nor the ip address match the current set of ip address the company have (for example right now is 10.10x.x and the company network is on 20.20.x.x)

Does all this has to be changed? I mean should I change all IP Address so every single switch is in our network?

I did some test with one and now if I connect to that switch I will not be able to ping the other switches from that pc)

Thanks in advance

If you want to be able to telnet to them and troubleshoot if you have a problem then yes you should change them all so that they fall within the network address range they are attached to .

PS to get around this problem you have them put the old address range on the router as a secondary address temporarily. From the router you should be able to just telnet to the switches make your default gateway change and then do your ip address change last .
