Hi,
I have a 1841 router with a DSL WIC. The ISP has provided SDSL. The router is a replacement for a Zyxel router. The ISP are using ENET ENCAP.
Can anyone tell me if this is supported on the Cisco. I can't find it anywhere(hair starting to thin)
The image is 12.4 and the controller is seen by the router.

Any help would be great
:)

Can you not connect to the internet? Can they authenticate with PPPoA or PPPoE?

Burt

Hi Burt, If you do a show tech report the virtual- access1 interface is up and so is dialer1, but their is does not seem to be anywhere in the IOS to add a command for ENET. The answer to your question is no.

Thanks Burt

Hello
What kind of DSL WIC you presently have, is it the WIC-1ADSL?I think first of all you will need a WIC that support the SDSL technology.Try calling Cisco sales office so that they can give advice on the correct WIC.I don't think the encapsulation will be a problem with the correct IOS installed.

HI Minue,
Here is a "sho ver" or part of it anyway
Cisco 1841 (revision 6.0) with 113664K/17408K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FCZ101312UH
1 DSL controller
2 FastEthernet interfaces
1 ISDN Basic Rate interface
1 ATM interface
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled.
191K bytes of NVRAM.
31360K bytes of ATA CompactFlash (Read/Write)

The IOS has detected the WIC

Hello
Look at the actual WIC and post what's written on the front side.
Also a "show diag"will help.
Regards

Hi
Here's a like on how to configure DSL controller.I have run a search but the reference to ENET ENCAP isn't use on cisco routers,Zyxel use this name, but it's not the real RFC name.Maybe it corresponds to this AAL5+LLC/SNAP on cisco routers.Try it out and let us know how it goes.
Regards

do you have a default route set?

and do you have/require nat translation on the serial?

pls post more config.. just hide your ips and passwords
