Hi Guys,
I'm looking for some general advice about setting up a remote access VPN on an 1841 router.
After a brief read through the documentation on cisco.com, I came to the conclusion that L2TP/IPSec would be the best approach to take. I do not have a support contract, and all that is important is that a few select users have secure VPN access for emergencies. I understand the basic part about setting up the tunnel, but the security stuff goes over my head! Basically I want users to be able to access the VPN with the Windows client, using a username / password. Once they are connected to the VPN they can then use active directory credentials to access shared resources etc.
Please could someone outline how IPSec security works on this router? I really don't understand certificates etc, I was just hoping to be able to set very strong passwords for a couple of users so that they can VPN if need be.
Something like an overview to the steps needed to get this VPN up would be great.
Many thanks
