I need a router that is capable of translation between two logical subnets on the same network. I need to configure eth0 with a 192.19.18.X on 255.255.255.0 and eth1 192.19.20.x on 255.255.252.0. I understand that routers are infact logical translator but just wanted to verify the 1841 is capable of what i need.

thanks for any help,

Suggestion for alternative welcome, cisco only!

Forgive me, I may be misunderstanding your question. A router will route packets between different networks. An 1841 will let you configure the subnets as you have described. As long as your machines on each subnet know to use the router to talk to the other subnet, you will not have an issue.
