Hi,

My client is currently obtaining 3 cisco 1721 routers, to allow vpn connection to each of our sites via the internet.

Is there any other requirements for us to get this VPN running? apart from the 3x1721s, what else do i need. THe sites are already using ADSL to connect to the internet. We need to establish connectivity between our sites, VPN seemed to be a cost-efficient alternative.

The data centre runs Windows NT 4.0 (no Active Directory), the workstations are on a 192.168 IP scheme.

nothing else really, aside from insisting that your ISP assigns you routable IPs... trying to configure VPNs with private IPs [RFC 1918] is always a headache.. your life will be alot easier if you insist for public IPs..

good luck..

Thanks for your response!

Currently 1 static IP connected to the internet... the workstations are 192.168 using NAT to connect to the internet thru the static IP (NT Server 4.0) 207.45.145.156 on the server.

Anything else to keep in mind?

I also wanted to setup a firewall at the same time, will the 1721 suffice? anything i need to look out for?

thank you for the help!

The 1721 VPN bundle already has Context Based Access Control on it. Just use that for firewalling, unless you want to shell out some serious money.
