HELP!!!

I have been trying to install the Cisco 1700 but have had no success.

I currently have a Dell server with dual nics. It also is an ISA server. I am positive that my configurations are correct.. I have triple checked them (IP addressing, default gateway, etc.) When I connect the router to the external nic I am not able to get out at all. I cannot even ping the router.

However, when I connect a laptop to a port on the Cisco I am able to at least ping the router.

I am sort of a newbie to this stuff. So ask any questions and Ill see what I can come up with. Thanks for your help.

Hello there, what sort of cable are you using. Also, when you conect the laptop do you console into the router?

In your case I would use the laptop to console into the router and a corssover from ethernet port on the router to the Dell server. Once done have a look at show interface and make sure that the interface is not admin down (shut no shut ) and it is up up... Cheers and good luck!!!

You should also try to connect your laptop back-to-back with your server using the same crossover UTP and ping each other.
