I have 2 subnets. 192.168.1.xxx and 205.128.1.xxx . Both are setup as private ranges in my organization. Currently I have routing and remote access configured on my 2003 server so that 205 people and see 192 people, but I do not want this. Is a Cisco 1602 R capable of routing the 205 range to be able to communicate with the 192 range?
I need the 205 range people to be able to communicate with the 192 range people and vice versa.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The Cisco 1602: one Ethernet, one serial with integrated 56-kbps data service unit/channel service unit (DSU/CSU), one WAN interface card slot.

How will your subnets connect to this router? Will they both be connected to the Ethernet port?

Both subnets will have to connect through the e0 port. I'm open for suggestions on an alternative. Currently I have routing and remote access enabled on my 2003 server but I want to do away with this.
Thank You

Do you have a switch that does trunking and VLANS? If so I'm pretty sure you could do what is sometimes referred to as router on a stick. I have never used a 1602R router but if it supports subinterfaces you could configure the interface with both networks and do the routing on the router.

The 1602 does not support sub-interfaces. Are you using the 1602's WIC slot for connection to the internet for your organization? If so, I'd buy a switch like a 3550 w/EMI IOS and use it to route between my subnets and connect the 1602 (if it's your connection to your ISP)
