Hi there,
Got some servers that are setup behind a firewall. This is preventing Insight Manager software to detect it.

Can someone please advice the solution to this and what I would need to do?

Thanks
Jimy

Hi,

You need to open SNMP inbound port 162 (SNMP_Traps) and outbound port 161 (SNMP) on your firewall.

Direct the servers to send the traps to the CIM station.

By having these ports open, will i be compromising security in any way. Are there any patches that I should apply if i open the ports mentioned?

Thanks
Jimy

Hi,

Only open what you need and nothing more. Security should be ok as long as you open them as specified about.

Opening 161 outbound will allow you to send SNMP control signals to the servers you wish to monitor. Opening 162 Inbound will allow SNMP Traps info to be submitted by the servers to your CIM center.
